SATURDAY SKETCHBOOK: FRONT ENTRYWAY

These sketchbook installations are really helping to keep me on the task of buttoning up the design of Arrow Hill Cottage! This week I set to work on the entryway. Although our home will have an attached garage, and our family is most likely to enter and leave in that direction, I wanted to make…

Thank you for the nice update about the design.  Having the pictures with the text helps to visualize the area.  I am looking forward to not only sitting on the  porch but also entering the front doors of your welcoming home 👍ReplyCancel

Love the barn wood wall!! That space is perfect 👌🏽ReplyCancel

    • Thank you! I love me some barn wood – but sometimes I think that large amounts of it suck light out of spaces. This to me is the perfect accent amount.ReplyCancel

I also like the check off list and partial pay payment plan..it doesn’t matter how well You may know someone or how well friends you “think” you are. Sometimes you may be surprised!ReplyCancel

    • It’s so true! When you enter a business transaction, even with a friend, you need to get it in writing and have a professional agreement in place!ReplyCancel

HOW TO CREATE A TEXTURED KNOT PILLOW

It’s time for another fun DIY project! I mentioned this knot pillow in a recent post about our home’s Christmas decorations. The pillow went perfectly with the rest of the festive decorations and is still gracing our couch this winter. I feel like the cold winter months are the perfect time to experiment with textures…

SATURDAY SKETCHBOOK: KITCHEN BASIC DESIGN

I spent some time this week diving into the interior of Arrow Hill Cottage. With just over 18 months remaining before we break ground, I want to get as many details ironed out as possible. I figure that the more decisions that are made on paper, the less surprises that might arise during construction. This…

How exciting, looking forward to you breaking ground and the construction starting. Reading your post helps me envision the layout better. For the seating in the kitchen I would suggest backs on the stools. Young & old alike would benefit from the support:) To not have the ‘clunky’ look you are concerned about , how about an semi-opened metal back to the seating, visually not as heavy looking  & still adds support /comfort.ReplyCancel

    • Yes, doesn’t 3d imaging really help with visualization? I’m excited to dive into each room! I agree that it is probably safer for the extra support of backs on the stools, just don’t want them to detract from the rest of the room. Semi-opened backs are a good option. 🙂ReplyCancel
